Chennai on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu on 29th & 30th May 2010, from candidates who seek admission to 1. M.B.A., 2. M.C.A. and 3. M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan. Degree
Programmes in Tamil Nadu for the year 2010-2011 offered at University
Departments of Anna University Chennai, Anna University Coimbatore,
Anna University Trichy, Anna University Tirunelveli, Govt. Engineering,
Arts and Science Colleges, Govt. Aided Engineering, Arts & Science
Colleges, and Govt. Quota seats in self-financing Engineering, Arts
& Science Colleges / stand alone Institutions. Some Universities
and Self–Financing Engineering Colleges may also opt to admit the candidates on the basis of TANCET 2010.
MBA Entrance Exam Pattern DURATION OF THE TEST: 2 HOURS The question paper will have sections:
i. To evaluate the candidate's ability to identify critically the data and apply the data to business decisions from given typical business situations. ii. To evaluate the skill of the candidate in answering questions based on the passages in the comprehension. iii. To evaluate the skill on solving mathematical problems at graduate level (including those learnt in plus two or equivalent level). iv. To test on determining data sufficiency for answering certain questions using the given data and the knowledge of Mathematics and use of day - to - day facts. v. To test the knowledge on written English with questions on errors in usage, grammar, punctuation and the like.
The question paper will have 100 objective type questions. Each question will have five alternate answers.
M.C.A. Entrance Exam Pattern DURATION OF THE TEST: 2 HOURS
The question paper will have the following sections:
i) Quantitative Ability (ii) Analytical reasoning iii) Logical reasoning (iv) Computer awareness
A few questions may also be there on verbal activity, basic science etc. The question paper will have 100 objective type questions. Each question will have four alternate answers.
M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Arch./ M.Plan Exam Pattern DURATION OF THE TEST: 2 HOURS
The question paper will have three parts.
Part-I
and Part-II are compulsory and the candidates have to choose any one
section out of 14 under Part-III depending upon his/her specialization.
Part – I Engineering Mathematics This part will have 30 objective type questions and the candidates should answer all the 30 questions.
Part – II Basic Engineering & Sciences This
part will have 45 objective type questions. The candidates should
answer a minimum of 30 questions.
Part – III Specialization This
part will consist of 14 sections in various disciplines, like Civil
Engg., Mechanical Engg., etc. Each section will have 40/45 objective
type questions. The candidates have to choose any one section depending
on his specialization, and should answer a minimum of 40 questions.
MBA Each correct answer will be awarded 1 mark and 1/5 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. Multiple shadings will be considered as wrong answer and 1/5 mark will be deducted. Marks will not be deducted for the questions left unanswered.
MCA Multiple shadings will be considered as wrong answer and 1/4 mark will be deducted. Marks will not be deducted for the questions left unanswered.
M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Arch./ M.Plan All the correct answers upto a
maximum of 30 will be awarded 1 mark each and 1/4 mark will be deducted
for each wrong answer. All
the correct answers upto a maximum of 40 will be awarded 1 mark each
and 1/4 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. Each
question will have 4 alternate answers. Multiple shadings will be
considered as wrong answer and 1/4 mark will be deducted. Marks will
not be deducted for the questions left unanswered.
a) M.B.A . Degree Programme
a) A pass in any recognised degree with 10+2+3 years pattern (or) b) A pass in any recognised degree with 10+3 years Diploma + 3 years pattern. (or) c) A pass in all branches of B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch./B.Pharm.
b) M.C.A. Degree Programme
a) A pass in any recognised Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration (10 + 2 + 3 / 4 years pattern) in any discipline with core Mathematics (or) Business Mathematics at +2 level. (or) b) A pass in any recognised Bachelor’s degree with 10+3 years Diploma + 3 years pattern in any discipline with Mathematics at Diploma level or Mathematics or Statistics* at degree level. (or) c) A pass in any recognised Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration (10 + 2 + 3 pattern) in any discipline with Mathematics or Statistics* as any one of the subjects.

c) M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Arch./ M.Plan Degree Programmes
a. Candidates with a pass in
(i) B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch. Degree Programme, (OR) (ii) B.Pharm / B.Sc. (Agri/ Forestry/ Horticulture/ Fishery) Degree Programme,
(OR)
(iii)
Master’s Degree in the relevant branch of Science / Arts, which is
prescribed and candidates appeared/appearing for the final semester /
year of examination of such programme during April/May
b.
Candidates with section ‘A’ & ‘B’ certificates and other similar
certificates of professional bodies or societies (e.g. A.M.I.E.)
recognized by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of
India as equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech. Degree programme with 2 years
industrial experience in the relevant field after successful completion
of the course. An experience certificate is to be produced.
The
candidates are required to find out the eligible qualification for
admission to M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan Degree Programmes of Anna
University Chennai, Anna University Coimbatore, Anna University Trichy,
Anna University Tirunelveli before appearing for TANCET. For admission
in MBA & MCA programmes offered by Universities other than Anna
Universities, the candidates have to find out the eligible
qualification from the admitting authorities concerned.
The
candidates who have already passed or are appearing for the final
semester / year examination of the above qualifying degree programmes
during April/ May 2009, which are prescribed as eligible qualification
for admission to M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Arch./ M.Plan degree programmes by
Anna University Chennai, Anna University Coimbatore, Anna University
Trichy & Anna University Tirunelveli may apply for TANCET .
Acceptance
of a person as a candidate for writing the Entrance Test does not
confer on the person, the right of equivalent eligibility for admission
to any of the above courses. The decision on the eligibility of the
candidates for admission to a course entirely rests with the admitting
authority offering the courses. Other State candidates can appear for
the Entrance Test, but the eligibility conditions will be fixed by the
admitting authority / University.
