The Common Entrance Examination shall have 180 objective type multiple choice questions each carrying one mark distributed in six subjects which are to be attempted in 3 hours duration. The standard of this Common Entrance Test will generally be that of 10+2 level. These six subjects are as follows:
English 25 questions General Knowledge 30 questions Reasoning Aptitude 25 questions Mathematics 40 questions Physics 40 questions Chemistry 20 questions
BSc (Nautical Science)
Entry Requirements
A pass in 10+2 or its equivalent examination with minimum 60% aggregate
in the Physics, Chemistry and mathematics group, and at least 50% in
English at 10th or 12th Standard.
Age
17 to 25 years as on August 2012
SC/ST : relaxable as per Government guidelines.
Physical Fitness
All qualified candidates will have to submit a Physical Fitness
certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner in a prescribed
format that will be made available to them at an appropriate time.
Eligibility
Unmarried (male/female) Indian Citizens and few seats for foreign nationals.
B.Sc (SHIP BUILDING & REPAIR)
Entry Requirement:
Pass in 10 + 2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board /
University with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and English as a
separate subject with a PCM average of not less than 60% and with
minimum 50% marks in English language at either 10th or 12th standard
exam conducted by a recognized board.
Age Limit:
Should not be more than 25 years as on 01 August 2012. The age limit is
relaxable by 2 years in case of female candidates and 5 years for SC/ST
candidates.
Physical and medical standards:
Medically fit as per the standards set by Merchant Shipping Medical Examination Rules, 2000 as amended from time to time.
Eye Sight:
6/6 in each eye without visual aids. Normal colour vision. Candidates
may have to undergo a full eyesight test conducted by the Mercantile
Marine Department (MMD) before being finally selected for the programme.
