Rajasthan Pre Entrance Test - RPET is conducted by Board of Technical Education, Rajasthan. The admission into 1st semester / first year of different undergraduate engineering / architecture / pharmacy / diploma in pharmacy programs offered into various colleges across the state of Rajasthan is made on the basis of RPET merit rankings. This test is officially abbreviated as “RPETEAP” which stands for “Rajasthan Pre Entrance Test for Engineering, Architecture and Pharmacy”.
Both, government aided and private unaided technical institutes of Rajasthan accept the merit ranking of RPET for admission into various programs. However, BITS Pilani, MNIT Jaipur and other deemed universities does not accept RPETEAP merit ranking and takes their own test for admission.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: A. The minimum academic qualification for admission to B.Tech./B.E./B.Arch. program in Rajasthan is a pass in the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) of Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan or any other examination recognized equivalent thereto by Universities in Rajasthan.

C. Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination class XII (Main), will be provisionally permitted to appear in RPET. Such candidates will be eligible for subsequent counselling and admission, provided they pass in the class XII (Main) Examination and also in all the three subjects as above.
D. For Architecture Course: For admission to B.Arch. course a candidate must appear in NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture(COA). However, their merit shall be decided by admission committee of RPET based on the ranking of NATA and marks in the qualifying examination. A candidate should have any one of the following qualifications: Eligibility: (As per Council of Architecture) (a) 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board with Mathematics as a subject of study by securing 50% marks in aggregate. OR (b)10+3 diploma (any stream) recognized by Central/State Govt. with 50% aggregate marks. OR (c) International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination.
For SC, ST & OBC candidates the aggregate is 45% marks in the above said examination. Besides this, other benefits as provided by the Govt. of India and respective State Govt. to the SC, ST, OBC, Women, Economically backward, Ex-Serviceman, Physically handicapped students as applicable to them for pursuing the B.Arch. degree course are also to be extended. All admissions to B.Arch. degree courses shall be subject to passing of National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by Council of Architecture (COA. The minimum pass score for NATA is 80 out of 200 for all categories of candidates. There is no relaxation in the minimum pass score of NATA to any category of candidate.
Process of Admission to Architecture Courses: (1) Candidate shall appear for National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by the Council of Architecture. Test Centre for NATA in Rajasthan is “Aayojan School of Architecture, Jaipur”. Other test centres in other states are available on website of NATA (http://www.nata.in). AGE A candidate desirous to take admission through RPET, should be less than 23 years of age as on the year of examination. (Upper age limit is relaxable up to 3 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST). Minimum age limit has been waived off .
DOMICILE CRITERIA
The RPET-2009 is open to the candidates of Rajasthan Domicile only. The domicile status of Rajasthan of any candidates will be ascertained as per any one of the following crieteria.
Domicile Category - A The candidate himself / herself or any of his / her natural parents (father / mother) is a bonafide resident of Rajasthan. [Refer Certificate No. 1 (i)] OR Domicile Category - B Candidate has studied continuously as a regular student in recognized educational institutions in Rajasthan for the preceding three years up to and including the year in which he/she has passed / appearing the qualifying examination (i.e. X, XI and XII classes). [Refer Certificate No. 1 (ii)] OR Domicile Category - C Candidate is a son/daughter of either a serving employee or of a retired employee of any of the following: [Refer Certificate No. 1(iii)] (i) Government of Rajasthan (including officers of All India Service borne on the State cadre of Rajasthan). (ii) Undertakings/ Corporations/ Improvement Trusts/ Municipal Boards/Panchayat Samities / Co-operative Bodies duly constituted by the Government of Rajasthan. (iii) Statutory Bodies and Corporations formed under the Indian Companies Act incorporated in Rajasthan. OR Domicile Category - C Candidate is a son/daughter of an employee of any of the Universities in Rajasthan or Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan or Government aided Engineering Colleges of Rajasthan who has put in at least three years service on the date of submission of application in any of the above bodies. [Refer Certificate No. 1 (iv)] OR Domicile Category - C Candidate is a son/daughter of an employee of Central Government or Institutions of the Central Government including Public Sector Undertakings or Corporations and who is on the regular rolls and is serving in the State of Rajasthan on the date of application. [Refer Certificate No. 1 (v)] OR Domicile Category - C Candidate is a son/daughter of an employee of Rajasthan origin, serving in Defence/Central Government services/Public Sector undertakings/National Institutes of Government of India, who has put in at least three years service on the last date for submission of application irrespective of his/her place of posting provided a certificate is submitted by the employee from the employer to this effect stating the State of origin and the home town as given by him/her at the time of his/her entry into service. [Refer Certificate No. 1 (vi)] Note: 1. Ex-Servicemen (Ex-S) and the Defence Killed (DK) persons should be of Rajasthan origin for eligibility of their children in these categories. The State of origin and home town as entered in the discharge certificate shall only be accepted as proof in respect of the above. A copy of discharge certificate and PPO must necessarily be enclosed to seek reservation/ relaxation in this category. The discharge certificate and PPO must be produced in original at the time of Counseling. For the wards of defence personnel from other State but serving in the State of Rajasthan, the domicile condition is waved off to enable them to appear in the entrance test and be selected in general quota. However, they would not be eligible for Ex-S/DK category. 2. Sons/daughters of the displaced persons from Jammu & Kashmir (KM) shall be eligible for admission to Engineering Colleges through RPET-2009. The candidate has to submit a certificate from the competent authority as a proof of being son/daughter of a displaced person from Jammu & Kashmir.
The examination is held at the centres located in the cities: Ajmer, Alwar, Bikaner, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Churu,Hindaun city,Jaipur,Jhalawar, Jhunjhnu, Jodhpur, Kota,Pilani,Sri Ganganagar ,Swai Madhopur ,Tonk and Udaipur.
PET consist of written test in physics, chemistry, maths of 3 hours duration. The question papers in all the subjects consist of multiple choice objective type questions.There is no negative marking for wrong answer. The questions in the test booklet will be in Hindi as well as in English. However, in case of any difference in Hindi & English versions of question, the questions in English shall be treated as valid.
