“Counselling will be conducted by Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore based on TANCET 2010 / Valid GATE Score”
5.1) Candidates will be admitted through counselling only. More number of candidates than the actual number of seats available will be called for counselling. Admission will be offered depending upon the seats available based on the merit of the candidates who attend counselling as per reservation norms of Govt. of Tamil Nadu and others cannot claim any right for admission. A candidate can get Allotment for One Programme only.
Note: The number of seats/courses/branches available/not available is subject to Change before the counselling.
5.2) TANCET 2010 / Valid GATE Score candidates must appear for counselling with the original TANCET 2010 / GATE score card (Additional card will not be accepted). Candidates without the original TANCET 2010 / GATE score card will not be permitted to attend the counselling. If a seat is allotted under TANCET 2010 / GATE category, the candidate has to submit the original TANCET 2010 / GATE score card.
5.3) Candidates who have passed all the subjects of Qualified Degree Examination alone will be allowed to attend the counselling.
5.4)Candidates who have passed all the subjects in the qualified degree examination but have not yet received the Provisional/Degree Certificate and if such candidates are offered provisional admission they have to join the programme on the prescribed date after paying the prescribed fee. However, they must produce the Provisional/Degree Certificate on or before admission. The provisional admission of those who fail to produce the above said certificate on or before the specified time, even if eligible, will automatically stand cancelled and they have to discontinue the programme.
5.5) The counselling schedule and cut-off mark(s) will be published in the website of Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore http://www.annauniv.ac.in
5.6)Eligible candidates may appear for counselling according to their cut-off mark(s), two hours before the counselling session, irrespective of receipt of individual communication. Candidates who do not attend the counselling may have to forego the claim of admission.
5.7) No change of date/time of counselling is permissible. Authorities are not responsible for the non-receipt of counselling intimation.
5.8) Candidates who are Native of Tamil Nadu but have studied XII or/ and Degree outside Tamil Nadu have to produce the “Nativity Certificate” obtained from the Tahsildar of their Native Taluk / District of Tamil Nadu for considering them as Tamil Nadu candidates.
5.9) Reservations for Differently Abled candidates are available as per the Government norms. Candidates seeking admission against the reservation set apart for Orthopedically Differently Abled Persons / Hearing Impaired (Deaf) / Visually Impaired should produce the certificate from the District Medical Board certifying the nature and extent of disability in percentage and with regard to the suitability for admission to colleges specifically mentioned below. Certificate obtained from an individual doctor will not be considered. The certificate should be in the prescribed format.
5.10) Due to unforeseen reasons, if a candidate could not attend the counselling on the specified date and time, he/she can attend on a subsequent time/date, during the counselling period. But the candidate can only opt for the seats available at the time of attending the counselling and cannot claim any seat as per the rank. 5.11) For Sponsored Category limited number of seats (Full Time Study & Part-time study) are available in P.G. degree programmes for the candidates employed and sponsored by the Government Organizations/ Government / Government Aided Educational Institutions/ AICTE approved Engineering Colleges under sponsored category at the University Departments of Anna University of Technology Coimbatore. However, the minimum percentage of marks and minimum years of experience is required for the Full time&Part time Sponsored Category . All the candidates under sponsored category should have appeared for TANCET 2010 conducted by Anna University Chennai and also the candidate should produce the necessary .
5.12) For Service/ Ex service man Category limited number of seats (Full Time Study &Part-time study) are available in P.G. degree programmes the candidates must satisfy the Govt. of Tamilnadu Norms.
5.13) For Physically Challanged Category limited number of seats (Full Time Study & Part-time study) are available in P.G. degree programmes the candidates must satisfy the Govt. of Tamilnadu Norms(Refer Certificates)
5.14) Counselling and allotting authorities r eserve the right to accept or reject andapplication without assigning any reason(s).

Chennai on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu on 29th & 30th May 2010, from candidates who seek admission to 1. M.B.A., 2. M.C.A. and 3. M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan. Degree
Programmes in Tamil Nadu for the year 2010-2011 offered at University
Departments of Anna University Chennai, Anna University Coimbatore,
Anna University Trichy, Anna University Tirunelveli, Govt. Engineering,
Arts and Science Colleges, Govt. Aided Engineering, Arts & Science
Colleges, and Govt. Quota seats in self-financing Engineering, Arts
& Science Colleges / stand alone Institutions. Some Universities
and Self–Financing Engineering Colleges may also opt to admit the candidates on the basis of TANCET 2010.
MBA Entrance Exam Pattern DURATION OF THE TEST: 2 HOURS The question paper will have sections:
i. To evaluate the candidate's ability to identify critically the data and apply the data to business decisions from given typical business situations. ii. To evaluate the skill of the candidate in answering questions based on the passages in the comprehension. iii. To evaluate the skill on solving mathematical problems at graduate level (including those learnt in plus two or equivalent level). iv. To test on determining data sufficiency for answering certain questions using the given data and the knowledge of Mathematics and use of day - to - day facts. v. To test the knowledge on written English with questions on errors in usage, grammar, punctuation and the like.
The question paper will have 100 objective type questions. Each question will have five alternate answers.
M.C.A. Entrance Exam Pattern DURATION OF THE TEST: 2 HOURS
The question paper will have the following sections:
i) Quantitative Ability (ii) Analytical reasoning iii) Logical reasoning (iv) Computer awareness
A few questions may also be there on verbal activity, basic science etc. The question paper will have 100 objective type questions. Each question will have four alternate answers.
M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Arch./ M.Plan Exam Pattern DURATION OF THE TEST: 2 HOURS
The question paper will have three parts.
Part-I
and Part-II are compulsory and the candidates have to choose any one
section out of 14 under Part-III depending upon his/her specialization.
Part – I Engineering Mathematics This part will have 30 objective type questions and the candidates should answer all the 30 questions.
Part – II Basic Engineering & Sciences This
part will have 45 objective type questions. The candidates should
answer a minimum of 30 questions.
Part – III Specialization This
part will consist of 14 sections in various disciplines, like Civil
Engg., Mechanical Engg., etc. Each section will have 40/45 objective
type questions. The candidates have to choose any one section depending
on his specialization, and should answer a minimum of 40 questions.
MBA Each correct answer will be awarded 1 mark and 1/5 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. Multiple shadings will be considered as wrong answer and 1/5 mark will be deducted. Marks will not be deducted for the questions left unanswered.
MCA Multiple shadings will be considered as wrong answer and 1/4 mark will be deducted. Marks will not be deducted for the questions left unanswered.
M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Arch./ M.Plan All the correct answers upto a
maximum of 30 will be awarded 1 mark each and 1/4 mark will be deducted
for each wrong answer. All
the correct answers upto a maximum of 40 will be awarded 1 mark each
and 1/4 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. Each
question will have 4 alternate answers. Multiple shadings will be
considered as wrong answer and 1/4 mark will be deducted. Marks will

a) M.B.A . Degree Programme
a) A pass in any recognised degree with 10+2+3 years pattern (or) b) A pass in any recognised degree with 10+3 years Diploma + 3 years pattern. (or) c) A pass in all branches of B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch./B.Pharm.
b) M.C.A. Degree Programme
a) A pass in any recognised Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration (10 + 2 + 3 / 4 years pattern) in any discipline with core Mathematics (or) Business Mathematics at +2 level. (or) b) A pass in any recognised Bachelor’s degree with 10+3 years Diploma + 3 years pattern in any discipline with Mathematics at Diploma level or Mathematics or Statistics* at degree level. (or) c) A pass in any recognised Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration (10 + 2 + 3 pattern) in any discipline with Mathematics or Statistics* as any one of the subjects.

Master’s Degree in the relevant branch of Science / Arts, which is
prescribed and candidates appeared/appearing for the final semester /
year of examination of such programme during April/May

Candidates with section ‘A’ & ‘B’ certificates and other similar
certificates of professional bodies or societies (e.g. A.M.I.E.)
recognized by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of
India as equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech. Degree programme with 2 years
industrial experience in the relevant field after successful completion
of the course. An experience certificate is to be produced.
The
candidates are required to find out the eligible qualification for
admission to M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan Degree Programmes of Anna
University Chennai, Anna University Coimbatore, Anna University Trichy,
Anna University Tirunelveli before appearing for TANCET. For admission
in MBA & MCA programmes offered by Universities other than Anna
Universities, the candidates have to find out the eligible
qualification from the admitting authorities concerned.
The
candidates who have already passed or are appearing for the final
semester / year examination of the above qualifying degree programmes
during April/ May 2009, which are prescribed as eligible qualification
for admission to M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Arch./ M.Plan degree programmes by
Anna University Chennai, Anna University Coimbatore, Anna University
Trichy & Anna University Tirunelveli may apply for TANCET .
Acceptance
of a person as a candidate for writing the Entrance Test does not
confer on the person, the right of equivalent eligibility for admission
to any of the above courses. The decision on the eligibility of the
candidates for admission to a course entirely rests with the admitting
authority offering the courses. Other State candidates can appear for
the Entrance Test, but the eligibility conditions will be fixed by the
admitting authority / University.
