Candidates
seeking admission to IIIT-D will have to appear in the entrance test.
Admission decision will be solely based on the merit in the entrance
test, and all the seats will be filled through this test (that is,
there is no “management quota”). The eligibility criterion on who can
appear in the test is given below. Only students who satisfy the
eligibility criteria are allowed to take the test and will be required
to bring a attested copy of their mark sheet at the entrance test.
Application Procedure
Candidates
who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the entrance test, can apply
online (this is the only way to apply). They will have to print out
their form, paste a recent passport size photograph, and send it with a
draft for Rs 500 payable to “IIIT Delhi” as examination fee to at he
following address (through speed post only). As the application form
requires the bank draft no, a candidate must have the draft ready
before filling the application form online.

Each
candidate must keep a copy of this form, which is needed for appearing
in the exam. The candidates who are selected through the entrance test
will have to show, at the time of admission, original documents like
mark sheet for class XII, proof of residency, etc. Anyonefound not
satisfying the requirements or found having misrepresented the facts
will be liable for cancellation of his/her candidature.

The test is of objective type. Total number of questions will be around 100, and the total time will be 2 hours.
Section 1: Comprehension Section 2: Quantitative Section 3: Logical/Analytical (Part I) Section 4: Logical/Analytical (Part II)
Most questions will be of one mark each, except some questions in the Logical Analysis section which will be two mark each. Each objective question will have responses – you have to choose the best response and mark your response on the OMR Answer Sheet and not on the Question Booklet. All questions will be compulsory and there will be no negative marking.
A candidate who has secured 80 percent or more marks in the aggregate
of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) in class XII from CBSE
board or equivalent is eligible. However if the result of class XII is
not declared by the respective board, the student from Delhi can sit
for the entrance test.
At the time of counseling, every student must submit his/her
certificate of the result of class XII result. No candidate without the
certificate of 80% in PCM will be entertained for admission.
Age Criteria
A candidate should also be less then 25 years of age on or before the 1 October 2010.
Comprehension:
The Comprehension section is primarily to check the ability of the
candidates to understand facts and arguments. Most of the questions
will be of the following nature: A passage will be given and then based
on that passage there will be few questions. The passages can be on any
topic but will be self contained and self explanatory.
Quantitative:
The Quantitative Section tests a candidate on his/her numerical facility. The candidate should have good mathematical knowledge for this section.
Logical/Analytical:
The Logical/Analytical Section involves reasoning that helps in analyzing and synthesizing information, applying broad analysis to arrive at conclusions,
understanding complex relationships, using systems perspectives while
handling a problem or a situation. The candidate should have good
problem solving and analytical skills for this section.
Final selection for Delhi candidates will be based exclusively on the merit list in the entrance test and on AIEEE rank for outside Delhi students. However candidates must satisfy the eligibility criteria mentioned above (for candidates from Delhi who do not satisfy the eligibility criteria, the results of entrance test will not be declared). The number of seats for the program starting in 2010 is 100, of which 85% are reserved for Delhi students, and 15% for outside Delhi students. The Institute may increase the number of seats, based on recommendations of its Board, but any such increase will be announced before counseling starts.
