The Application Fee for the Entrance Examination of the MCA programme is Rs.1000 /- for OPEN/OBC and Rs. 500/- for SC/ST candidates. Candidates will have to take Demand Draft of appropriate amount depending on their category drawn in favour of “Director NIT Kurukshetra - NIMCET10”, payable at Kurukshetra. Candidates are advised to write their name, address and Mobile/Phone Number on the reverse side of the Demand Draft.
Applications
are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the 3-year full
time Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme offered by the
NITs located at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli and Warangal.
Admissions to the MCA programme will be made through NIT MCA Common
Entrance Test 2010 (NIMCET10) organized jointly by eleven NITs and
being conducted by NIT Kurukshetra. Admission will be based on the rank
obtained in the NIMCET10 only. The test will be held for duration of
two hours and will consist of objective type questions on Mathematics,
Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness and
General English. The application form can be submitted online through
this website. You have to sign the hard copy (Printout) at the bottom
of each page and attach all the documents / declaration as listed in
the check list given in the Information Brochure and then send the form
by post. Kindly download the Information Brochure and read it
carefully. To fill online form you have to create a login id.

Haryana by post so as to reach on or before Monday, April 26, 2010. The
application form can also be submitted in the office of NIMCET10 at NIT
Kurukshetra by hand on all working days from 10.00AM to 5.00PM.

National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are Institutes of National Importance and are Centrally Funded Technical Institutes. The NIMCET is NIT MCA Common Entrance Test, a National Level Test conducted by NITs for admission in to their MCA programme. The admission to the MCA prgoramme in to NITs at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli and Warangal for the year 2012-13 is be based on the Rank obtained in NIMCET-2012 ONLY. The Curriculum and Syllabi of Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme offered by NITs are designed considering the needs of different Information Technology Firms in India and abroad. MCA graduates have high potential for jobs in IT Sector.
- The duration of NIMCET examination will be for a period of two
hours and will consist of 120 multiple choice questions with four
choices for each question.
- Candidates have to bring their own HB pencil, eraser and black ball point pen.
- Calculators, mobile phones or any other material are not allowed in the examination hall.
The question paper will contain 120 multiple choice questions covering the following topics: 1. Mathematics 50 questions 2. Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning 40 questions 3. Computer Awareness 10 questions 4. General English 20 questions
Each correctly answered question will carry
FOUR marks and each wrongly answered question will lead to NEGATIVE ONE
mark. The candidates have to mark the responses in the OMR sheets at
the time of examination.
Indian Nationals securing atleast 60% marks aggregate or 6.5/10 CGPA (55% marks or 6.0/10 CGPA for SC, ST category) in
(i) 12th (i.e. 10 + 2) level or equivalent, with Mathematics as
one of the subjects at either 10+1 or 10+2 level or at both the levels
AND (ii)
Qualifying Degree - Bachelor’s Degree of Full time* 3 year or more
duration from a recognized University with at least one of the
following as a chosen subject of study:
Mathematics, Statistics, Business Mathematics, Business Statistics, Discrete Mathematics,
Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science, Computational Mathematics,
Elementary Mathematics, Elementary Statistics are eligible to apply for NIMCET-2012.
- The percentages of marks in 10+2 and qualifying degree are to be
calculated on the basis of marks obtained in all the subjects
(including optional subjects, if any ) studied.
* Students who have completed/completing qualifying degree
(programme of three year or more duration) from Open Universities are
eligible to apply provided their programme is approved by UGC or AICTE
and Distance Education Council (DEC) of Govt. of India.
@The candidates who are appearing for all the qualifying examination are also
eligible to apply for NIMCET-2012. Such candidates shall have to
furnish the the proof of fulfilling the eligibility criteria of
NIMCET-2012 preferably at the time of Counseling/Admission but not
later than 31st August, 2012, failing which their admission is liable to be cancelled by the respective NITs.

MATHEMATICS : (50 questions)
Set Theory: Concepts of sets – Union – Intersection – Cardinality – Elementary counting; permutations and combinations.
Probability and Statistics: Basic concepts of probability theory, Averages, Dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, measures of central tendencies and dispersions.
Algebra: Fundamental operations in Algebra, Expansions, Factorization, simultaneous linear / quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, determinants and matrices.
Coordinate Geometry: Rectangular Cartesian coordinates, distance formulae, equation of a line, intersection of lines, pair of straight lines, equations of a circle, parabola, ellipse, and hyperbola.
Calculus: Limit of functions, Continuous function, Differentiation of function, tangents and normals, simple examples of maxima and minima. Integration of function by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction; Definite integrals, Applications of Definite Integrals to areas.
Vectors: Position vector, addition and subtraction of vectors, scalar and vector products and their applications to simple geometrical problems and mechanics.
Trigonometry: Simple identities, trigonometric equations, properties of triangles, solution of triangles, heights and distances, General solutions of trigonometric equations.
ANALYTICAL ABILITY AND LOGICAL REASONING : (40 questions)
The questions in this section will cover logical situation and questions based on the facts given in the passage.
COMPUTER AWARENESS: (10 questions)
Computer Basics:
Organization of a Computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), Structure of
instructions in CPU, input/output devices, computer memory, back-up
devices. Data Representation: Representation of characters,
integers and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations: Binary
Arithmetic: Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, simple
arithmetic and two’s complement arithmetic, floating point
representation of numbers, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams.
GENERAL ENGLISH: (20 questions) Questions in this
section will be designed to test the candidates’ general understanding
of the English language. There will be questions on the following
topics: Comprehension, Vocabulary, Basic English Grammar (like usage
of correct forms of verbs, prepositions and articles), Word power,
Synonyms and Antonyms, Meanings of words and phrases, Technical
writing.
