Bharathidasan University established in February 1982, and was named
after the great revolutionary Tamil Poet, Bharathidasan (1891-1968).
The motto of the University "We will create a brave new world" has been
framed from Bharathidasan's poetic words.

MSc (Life Science) Plus Two or Equivalent / 12 th Standard of CBSE, with Biology / Botany & Zoology, Physics and Chemistry as the subjects.
MSc (Bio-Medical Science) Plus
Two or Equivalent with Biology / Botony & Zoology as principal
subjects and with adequate knowledge in chemistry and Physics.
MSc (Geo-Sciences) Plus Two or Equivalent (Any group)
M.Sc [Physics (with specialization in Material Science)] Plus Two or equivalent with Physics as one of the subjects.
Master of Social Work (MSW)
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Candidates
qualified for Master's degree with not less than 55% of marks or a CGPA
of 5.51 and above in the 10.00 point scale under CBCS, under the
faculties of Arts, Science, Fine Arts, Indian and other languages,
Management, Law, Education/Educational Technology, Engineering,
Technology, Commerce, Pharmacy, Medicine, Surgery, Veterinary Science
etc., are eligible to register for Ph.D. under this category. The
Candidates, who are qualified for CA or CFA or ACS or ICW with basic
degree, are also eligible to register under this category. Their Course
of study must be as per the regulations of this
University
or any other University accredited by UGC for the award of the degrees
in the respective disciplines of study co relatable with those of Bharathidasan University. The candidates who have qualified for Master's Degree prior to 19-09-1991,
with not less than 50% of marks, are also eligible to register for
Ph.D. programme in this University. The SC/ST candidates are eligible
for 5% exemption from the prescribed minimum marks.
Selection Procedure:
The selection shall be based on both written test and oral test
Examination. The test should examine Research aptitude, grasp of the
subject, intellectual ability and general knowledge of the prospective
admit tees. The teacher candidates and the candidates who have passed
UGC/CSIR/NET/SLET examinations shall be exempted from the written test;
but shall have to take the viva-voce examination.
MPhil (Full Time)
Candidate
with Master’s Degree in the relevant subject with not less than 55% of
marks or 5.51 in 10.00 Grade point average scale under CBCS. The
candidates who have qualified for the Master’s Degree prior to 19-09-1991,
with not less than 50% of marks, are also eligible to register for
M.Phil. programme in this University. SC /ST candidates are given 5%
exemption from the prescribed minimum marks.
MPhil (Part Time)
Any citizen of India,
irrespective of their employment status, who wishes to pursue M.Phil.
programmes are eligible to register under Part –Time Research, provided
they fulfill the eligibility norms.

Application Fee:
Application for admission to the above programmes can be had in person on payment of cash / DD for Rs. 100/- from The DIRECTOR, Bharathidasan University College, Perambalur whose office is functioning at Thuraiyur Main Road, Kurumbalur-621107. Application can also be downloaded from the university website www.bdu.ac. In
which case the DD for Rs.100 towards the cost of application should be
sent along with the filled-in application. For SC/ST students one
application will be issued free of cost on production of copy of
community certificate.
